The Lerner Theatre, an Elkhart Landmark, is part of a revival, a new era for the arts, commerce and life in the heart of our community.

Elkhart Environmental Center.
The Elkhart Environmental Center (EEC), the largest greenspace in Elkhart, is a beautiful space along the Elkhart River featuring public trails through restored woodlands, prairies, and wetlands.
The EEC trails are open dawn – dusk every day and are free to visit. Throughout the year, the EEC offers programs, events, and resources to the community as well.

This museum contains more than 20,000 artifacts, a working genealogy library, and
an archive containing government and business records, offering visitors a firsthand
account of what life was like for those who settled the area that would become
Elkhart County. Various displays including historical themes and time periods such a
Victorian row house, a one-room school, a rain depot, a general store, a dentist, a
barber, a pharmacy, a tool room and Native American artifacts bring history to life.
The building itself, now known as the Rush Memorial Center, is on the National
Register of Historical Places.

Ruthmere, formerly the Albert and Elizabeth Beardsley Residence, is a three-story Beaux-Arts mansion that is the most prominent historic residence in Elkhart, Indiana, United States. Built in 1910, the Ruthmere Mansion is now open to the public as a museum, along with the neighboring Dr. Havilah Beardsley House.

Dr. Havilah Beardsley House is a historic home located at Elkhart, Elkhart County, Indiana. It was built in 1848, and is a two-story, rectangular, Italianate style brick dwelling. It has a medium pitched gable roof, full width front porch with Ionic order fluted columns, rounded openings, and decorative brackets.

A certain Main Street address once housed a barber shop, an apothecary and – as legend has it – a speakeasy. This is the stuff local history is made of, and you’ll find plenty of it at “Time Was” Museum. It’s packed to the ceilings with photographs, memorabilia and newspapers dating from 1856. You‘ll also come across lots of interesting and quirky stuff like a 125-year-old cash register and hand-etched brass instruments (a nod to the City’s reputation as the Band Instrument Capital.). A visit to Time Was is like exploring Elkhart’s communal attic. It’s open by chance or appointment.
